EARN COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS BY COLLECTING CELL PHONES FOR CHARITY

Shelter Alliance offers students the ability to earn community service hours through the collection of used cell phones for the benefit of your local domestic violence shelter.

Here’s how it works:

REQUEST MATERIAL: Request a “Community Service Hours” welcome kit. This kit includes program instructions and FedEx free freight labels. You will be “partnered” with a local shelter in your welcome kit.
COLLECTION: You collect phones from family, friends, and associates, and ship them to Shelter Alliance for recycling.
CONTRIBUTION: Shelter Alliance will contribute up to $30 (or more) per phone to your local “partner” shelter.
CERTIFICATE: You will receive a community service certificate directly from Shelter Alliance. This certificate will detail collection, contents, and estimated hours worked. We estimate that 1 hour of community service is earned for every 5 phones collected. (40 hours can be earned with 200 phones!)

This community service program is for students only and is not intended for court ordered community service.

Shelter Alliance's unique recycling program has been adopted by thousands of social service organizations in 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico, with over $5,000,000 distributed to those participating organizations. Our geographic presence allows us to "partner" any student directly with his or her local domestic violence shelter. Many of our domestic violence participants are understaffed and will gladly accept help with their collection programs.

Cell Phone Recycling Fundraising Total: Over $5,000,000
